Robert J. Steffen
Robert J. Steffen was born and raised in Elgin, Illinois, and was admitted to the Illinois Bar in 1992 and the U.S. District Court, Northern District of Illinois in 1993. He was a prosecutor for the Kane County State's Attorney's Office from 1991 until March of 2000, where he tried hundred of traffic and misdemeanor cases and over forty felony bench and jury cases form mob action to murder.
He left the State's Attorney's Office in March of 2000 as a 1st Chair Felony Assistant and joined his father's law firm, Steffen, Kelly & Steffen in downtown Elgin where he concentrated his practice on Criminal Defense, including Traffic, DUI, Domestic Violence, Juvenile, Drug, Misdemeanor and Felony cases and Residential Real Estate Transactions including Sales, Purchases, Refinances and Title Insurance. He is also a registered Title Agent for Attorneys' Title Guarantee Fund, Fidelity National Title, City Wide, Baird & Warner, and Chicago Title Insurance Company.
In 2004, he was appointed by the Governor of Illinois as a Judge for the Illinois Court of Claims where he served until November, 2015. He was appointed by the Governor of Illinois in November, 2015 as a Member of the Property Tax Appeal Board where he continues to sit.
